Collagenex Pharmaceuticals CEO Speaks About His Company
On January 8, The Wall Street Transcript interviewed Collagenex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (CGPI) CEO Colin W. Stewart. Key excerpts follow: TWST: Please begin with a brief historical sketch of the company and a picture of the things you are doing at the present time. Mr. Stewart: CollaGenex is a company that has transitioned from being a dental pharmaceutical company into a specialty dermatology company using proprietary technology that we have in-licensed from the State University of New York. Recent milestones include the approval of our first dermatology product, our flagship product Oracea, which is the first FDA-approved systemic treatment for rosacea, and the launch of that product was in July. We are also very focused on continuing to develop our pipeline of products, including incyclinide and a compound called COL-118 for indications that include acne, rosacea and erythema.
Boffins help folk with poor self-image
RESEARCHERS at Warwick University are making an unusual plea for help - they want people who think they are ugly to contact them. Boffins want to complete an in-depth study of people who believe themselves to be unattractive so they can develop better ways of supporting them. Dr Rodger Charlton, of Warwick University Medical School said: "Some people feel distress because of their appearance and have difficulties, for example, with meeting other people, while others do not. "We want to find out why this is and how these people's experiences can be used to help those who are suffering because of the way they look. "We hope that this research will help to develop better ways of supporting people with a physical appearance which is seen as different to others." .
