Senetek PLC, a Napa, California-headquartered product development company focused on the science of aging, today announced the results of a clinical study conducted at the National Taiwan University Hospital which showed that Senetek's Kinetin, an antioxidant compound, when combined with niacinimide, a B-complex vitamin, showed signs of reversing many signs of facial aging in Asians.

The trial was conducted over twelve weeks starting at The Center for Anti-aging and Health Consultation at the National Taiwan University Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan. The study was sponsored by Taiwan's Panion & BF Biotech Inc., Senetek's Kinetin licensee for Taiwan and China. The double-blind trial involved 52 in two parallel treatment groups, each of which received two daily applications of a topical aqueous serum for 12 weeks.

Procter & Gamble buys Greenwich-based cosmetics company

Procter & Gamble Co. said Monday that it bought HDS Cosmetics Lab Inc., the company that manufactures and markets the Doctor's Dermatologic Formula skin care line.

The Cincinnati-based consumer products company bought HDS Cosmetics from North Castle Partners, a private equity firm based in Greenwich, Conn. The companies did not disclose details of the transaction.
